Mick Morcom

Mick Morcom and his son Vern were the men chiefly responsible for the tremendous bunkering of the Melbourne Sandbelt. Mick was head Greenkeeper at Royal Melbourne for many years, and built the bunkers on the 5th hole of the West Course that so impressed designer Dr. Alister MacKenzie during his visit to the region. MacKenzie called Morcom, the "best greenkeeper he had come across".

As well as being involved in the construction of many of the bunkers on the Sandbelt, Mick Morcom also designed the terrific Woodlands golf course in Melbourme.
