Profile

Perry Maxwell is one of the more reverred figures in early American golf, having designed a number of world-class courses that have stood the test of time. These include Prairie Dunes with his son Press, Crystal Downs with Alister MacKenzie and tournament venues Colonial Country Club and Southern Hills. He also designed the very underated Old Town Club in North Carolina.

Maxwell's routings are adventurous, connected and walkable while his best holes display great originality and fantastic green complexes. Those courses that have resisted the need to host major events are generally better preserved, and fantastic throw-backs to the golden age of golf course design.
