Profile

Aside from winning the 2003 Masters at Augusta National, Canadian Mike Weir is perhaps best known for beating Tiger Woods in singles during the 2007 President's Cup played in his homeland. Weir is enormously popular in Canada, and at one point entered into a design partnership with respected local golf architect Ian Andrew. Andrew has done good work on redesign projects, and on new courses while working for architect Doug Carrick. Despite a slowdown, it is expected that Weir Golf Design will be busy given the pedigree of the principal Mike Weir.

In news releases and marketing spin Weir says the right things about golf course architecture, and his choice of Andrew as partner was also an astute one. His passion and aptitude for the business of design won't be known until they have some new course projects on the ground, which we expect in the not-too-distant future.
